I don't know what grade I am. If you have a blue badge, you are a grade 9 referee. If you have a black badge, you are a grade 8 referee

I am a registered referee do I have to attend a recert clinic? Yes (exception grade 9 referees wanting to upgrade to grade 8). All registered referees must attend a recertification clinic and register every year to be able to officiate.

I am a grade 9 referee, do I have to attend a recert clinic? Yes

I am grade 9 referee, do I have to attend a recert clinic if I attend a bridge class to upgrade? No. attending the bridge class will also certify you.

How long am I certified for? One year. Every referee who attends a clinic and registers is certified for 1 calendar year (Jan 1 - Dec 31). The exception to this are new referees who are certified from the date of their registration (usually August or September until Dec 31 of the following year)

I lost my patch how can I get another? Log in to www.ussoccer.info and order your patch there. You must have been a registered referee to order a patch

What do the referee grades mean? This grade refers to each referee grade, not which grade they are in school. Grade 9 allows a referee to do recreational games (YMCA, Dothan rec league) up to U-14 and assistant referee on youth matches (SSL, tournaments) up to U-14
Grade 8 allows a referee to do youth matches up to U-18

How old do I have to be to referee? At least 14 years old. You must be at least 14 to attend a grade 9 initial clinic and at least 16 years old to attend a grade 8 initial certification. Exception: If you are already a grade 9 referee, you can upgrade to grade 8 if you have been a grade 9 referee for at least one (1) year.

I will be 14 years old after the initial clinic what should I do? If you will turning 14 within a month (or before the end of the year) after the initial entry clinic communicate with your instructor.

What is the difference between grade 9 and grade 8 referee? Grade 9 can referee (center) recreational games (YMCA and Dothan rec league) up to age 14 and be an Assitant Referee up to youth U-14. Grade 8 can referee (center) youth games up to U-18

What uniforms do I need to referee USSF games? You will need to buy a Gold jersey, black shorts and black socks with 3 white stripes. You do not need the other colors in the first year
